…..shameboners?: When you go back and play Awakening and see how happy Anders was

AT the risk of being unpopular I am going to disagree with this set of gifs. I don’t think he was happy in Awakenings. I think he was deflecting and bitter. And I don’t blame Justice for what happened - Justice thought he was helping, their…

I agree with you there, I know he was something more of a cocky little shit in Awakening haha! I’m not hating on Justice at all, after all like you said, it was Anders who suggested the whole damn thing, it’s late at night an Ima just trying to put out a little light hearted comedy. C:

Nah, he wasn’t happy. He had a sense of humor and a coping mechanism, though. Even if that coping mechanism (RUN AWAAAAAAY) wasn’t mature or healthy.

tl;dr BAWWWWWW ANDERS NEVER HAD A PROPER CHILDHOOD

Did any of the companion characters?

WE MADE A CHART and then deleted it. But it helped us come to the conclusion that a pretty small number of them have backstories that don’t involve them being in some way traumatized (or just straight fucked around) during childhood. We didn’t count Sten (childhood doesn’t exist as a familiar concept in the Qun), Shale (unknowable), Dog, or Justice. The Hawke siblings count only once.

THE OFFICIAL LIST OF DRAGON AGE COMPANION CHARACTERS WHO DID NOT (OR AT LEAST PROBABLY DID NOT) HAVE SHITTY CHILDHOODS: Leliana, Oghren, Velanna, Merrill, Aveline, Varric. Sebastian and the Hawke siblings could go either way, really.

i don’t know if i would personally count merrill on this list considering she had to switch clans pretty early to be the Shiny New First and was heavily isolated from the other dalish in her new clan, therefore inhibited from forming any sort of healthy emotional relationships and that combined with the expectations placed on her to Save the Dalish led to her messing with some dangerous shit in da2 :(

Oh, you’re right…What do you think about Sebastian and the Hawke siblings being included? Sebastian was the privileged son of a prince, but he was also the third son, and when he talks about his family it seems like the only one he had any kind of attachment to was his grandfather. And the Hawke siblings…wouldn’t they have been rather isolated as well?

This list is, of course, very important and it is imperative that you provide your opinion.
